WUNC Embodied Intern – Part Time Temporary: North Carolina Public Radio WUNC, Chapel Hill

North Carolina Public Radio-WUNC, the public radio station licensed to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, is hiring a Social Media & Audience Engagement Intern.  This position is 20 hours per week for up to 6 months, with a pay rate of $17/hour. The position will begin Thursday, June 1. Applications are due Friday, March 31.

 

Description of Work

This intern will work within WUNC’s Content department primarily with the team behind Embodied — a radio show and podcast telling stories about sex, relationships and health.  

Job duties will include content creation for web and social media platforms; development and implementation of digital and social strategy and administrative production support.

The candidate will support the producer, editor and host of Embodied in engaging their audience through social and digital platforms. The selected candidate will become an integral member of a tight-knit production team creating a weekly radio show and podcast. They will be supported in developing a skill set that includes graphic design, social media storytelling and content creation for digital platforms. An ideal candidate is curious, passionate about storytelling and excited to jump into a dynamic work environment.

 

Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalency and one year of experience related to the area of assignment in broadcast television, radio and emerging media environment; or equivalent combination of training and experience.

Preferred or Leading Candidates will have: Excellent verbal & written communication skills; proficiency with standard spelling, grammar, punctuation, and style; understanding of journalistic practices, ethics and public radio core values.
